When Alexia first reached out to me after finding my work on Instagram, I learned she’s a photographer too, which honestly made being entrusted with their day feel even sweeter. There’s something really meaningful about another creative connecting with your work in that way. Getting to document everything with both digital photos and film photography, including Super 8 wedding film, felt like the absolute perfect fit for a day like theirs.
Their whole wedding had this nostalgic, artful energy that felt impossible not to get swept up in. It was colorful, dynamic, playful, and genuinely joyful. Even with Colorado weather doing its thing all day long (aka random rain showers rolling in and out), the atmosphere stayed warm and easygoing.
Wow, was this day made for film. The movement, colors, and shifting skies all had that dreamy, perfectly imperfect feeling that Super 8 captures so beautifully. With the constant shifts between rain, sunshine, music, color, and movement, their wedding day felt like something best remembered on film.

A Rainy Colorado Day That Cleared at the Perfect Time
Colorado really gave us a little bit of everything on Alexia & Brayden’s wedding day. The rain came and went throughout the afternoon, and there were definitely a few moments where everyone kept checking the forecast and hoping the weather would cooperate. But somehow, the timing could not have worked out more perfectly. Right as guests began gathering for the ceremony, the skies cleared.
Their outdoor ceremony felt so playful and artistic. Giant paper flowers lined the ceremony space, adding the sweetest pop of color. It all felt whimsical, like stepping into a little world they created together. Once the rain passed, guests lingered outside during cocktail hour, dinner was held outdoors, and the entire night carried a present energy.
Instead of traditional gifts or cards, they asked guests to bring records to add to their collection, which I haven’t seen before! They also had a cutout of their dog hanging out on the dance floor all night, which absolutely made people laugh every time they noticed it. The details were creative, sentimental, and fun.
A Nostalgic Night on Super 8 Wedding Film
Colorful tablescapes, soft candlelight, disco balls hanging overhead, and all the little in-between moments felt emotional and playful, which is probably my favorite kind of wedding to photograph. The dancefloor fully turned into the party everyone had been waiting for.
This entire day translated so beautifully onto the Super 8 wedding film. It was movement and emotion and color and real connection the entire way through. The days when the weather shifts unexpectedly, people laugh through the chaos, and somehow everything comes together even better than planned are always the moments that end up meaning the most. Alexia & Brayden created a wedding day that felt unique from beginning to end, and getting to document it all was such an honor.
